Under the Brazilian sun

What would a first day in Rio de Janeiro be without a stroll along Copacabana beach as a way to kick off my Amizade Adventure. The famous locale may seem idyllic, but to an old diehard Pacific Northwest webfoot, it is going to be a worthy challenge to become accustomed to the heat. It is a humid 96 degrees and I quickly found myself dripping in sweat. My eyes travelled over the many tanned and incredibly scantily dressed Brazilian bathers lying about, most who fit in their meager outfits and some who didn't. I chose not to snap any pictures where I stood the risk of getting beaten up, so, let it suffice to say, the suits are not designed for modesty.
As I was about to leave and seek cover from the heat and protection from my over-active imagination, I spied this young lady in a deck chair snoozing at the edge of the surf. It was the coolest spot without being in the water. I watched for a while and then, unexpectedly, a large wave washed in and woke us both from our reveries.

  5. Sis is wondering why you didn't insist on getting another room with AC that works or going to a different hotel.
