I arrived this morning in Santarem in Northern Brazil and am feeling wiped out after traveling for over 12 hours. I snapped a few pictures but am having a few technical difficulties, which I hope to resolve in the next day or two. I decided instead to share with you a few pictures I took on Tuesday in Rio from Sugarloaf Mountain, which is known as Pao de Acucar. Rio is one of the most visually stunning cities and, there is no place better to see it than from this pointed mountain that jets out into the bay. A series of cable cars takes those without vertigo to a perch which provides a breathtaking 360 degree view to visitors. While I was peering out and over a surprisingly low railing, the clouds in the distance parted and the world-famous statue of Cristo Redentor came into focus. I decided then to dedicate this photo to my friend and travel agent, Kathy Arndt, who tirelessly struggled with all the complicated arrangements and Im sure solicited divine providence to keep me well.

The clouds just parted for you, eh? This does look spectacular! I like the pic of the cable cars, I'm glad you took that one. I'm trying to imagine what it might really look like since you told me that a camera doesn't do it justice. You've seen so many wonderful vistas that this must have really been something special to make that comment about it. I'm so happy to see this post and I look forward to all of them to come.
ReplyDeleteFantastic captures, Lee! I was so excited to see this post this morning!! Breathtaking views! Seems you and Moses have something in common, huh? with the parting of the clouds!! Have a great weekend, looking forward to the next installment!

What a spot! I think Rio looks better from a distance. That is some amazing stuff. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOMG is right! I'm thinking that the clouds would part for you if they were going to part for anyone. Thank you for sharing these breathtaking views with us. This adventure is getting more exciting by the day!
ReplyDeleteYou must have felt like you were on top of the world.
ReplyDeleteWowee!! How neat, I am sure the camera does not do justice to what you saw with your own eyes. Magnificent!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you arrive at a solution with the technical difficulties and you can share with us all about Santarem MB
It must have been some kind of view! I hope you worked out the technical difficulties..very cool indeed!
ReplyDeleteOMG is right!
ReplyDeleteHow splendid. The views are making me giddy.
Bem Vindos a Santarém! Hope you are getting a good rest.
Incredible. And I give you credit. I wouldn't go on that cable car or whatever for all the money in the world (well, maybe all the money!)...I get the "willies" just looking at your photos!
ReplyDeleteNice and warm down there, heh?
